Precautions That Can Prevent Damage Inside of Mailing Tubes

Mailing tubes are special structures used to ship things that can form into a cylindrical shape, such as posters, blueprints, and even fishing poles. Whatever you plan on shipping using these tubes, you don't want them getting damaged. That won't be that likely if you take these precautions.

Use Protective Wrapping Around Item

Whether you're sending posters or flyers through the mail using these special tubes, you want to provide as much protection as you can. That's where protective wrapping can really help. You can apply it around the item being supported by the mailing tube and instantly have a protective buffer.

Wrapping materials can keep the item wrapped up tight like it's supposed to be and also safeguard it from tearing and bending. You just need to properly wrap the item before placing it inside a mailing tube. Then you'll have an easier time sliding it down the tube before capping the end or ends.

Don't Jam the Item Inside

The last thing you want to do when using mailing tubes for shipping purposes is to jam the item inside. That could end up bending it and then it won't be perfectly intact when the recipient gets it in the mail.

The best thing you can do is gently place the item inside the tube, making sure it has enough room to slide along smoothly. If you do get resistance, pull the item back out and readjust before trying again. It's such an easy step that can be overlooked.

Use Tape (Not Staples) When Sealing the Ends

To ensure your item stays inside the mailing tube until it's opened up by a recipient, you need to secure the ends. Even if the mailing tube has caps, sealing them in place ensures they won't accidentally come loose in shipping.

Just make sure you use tape, not staples when sealing both of the ends. Packaging tape can keep the ends with or without caps closed. Whereas if you used staples around these areas, you could end up damaging the item you're trying to ship. Then you would have to start all over.

Mailing tubes give you a lot of assurance when shipping certain materials through the mail. That is especially true if you really try avoiding damage by taking the right measures before and after an item is placed in one of these tubes. Even if there are unforeseen problems with shipping, the damage won't be probable.
