Tips For Running A Great Laundromat
If you already own a self-serve laundromat or you are planning on opening one, you want to follow some of the advice here. It will give you some extra ideas for ways that you can go about creating a better atmosphere for your customers and implement other things that are good ideas for you and your customers.
Have a TV
You may want to have a TV mounted high on the wall that is permanently set to one station that is considered to be okay for children so you won't offend some families with inappropriate movies. You'll also want the volume to be set on a compromising volume that's neither too high nor too low. You won't want to leave the remote because it will likely be stolen.
Have good seating
One of the things that a lot of people don't like about laundromats is that they tend to have horrible seating that is very uncomfortable. They generally have plastic seats with no padding or wooden benches with no padding. You want to find some comfortable seating that is also easy to clean so you will be able to keep it looking good. You can purchase seating that is made of strong metal but that has a shape to it that does a good job of mimicking cushions; this would be both comfortable and easy to clean.
Have a good HVAC system
You can't expect someone to want to choose your laundromat if it is uncomfortably warm in the summer and uncomfortably cold in the winter. When you offer someone comfort and entertainment, which you will be doing with the comfortable seating, the TV, and the HVAC system, you will be giving them a laundromat environment that they are going to want to choose over the others.
Have vending machines
You should think about having three different vending machines. Have one that dispenses drinks, one that dispenses snacks like chips, and one that dispenses candy. You will find that these will also be big moneymakers because both adults and children will see the machines and want something from them while they wait for their clothes.
Have enough machines
You want to be sure there are enough machines that people will find some empty when they show up. If you are running out of available machines often enough, then this could be a huge loss for you as time goes on and more and more people find other laundromats to go to where they can find empty machines.
